Report and pics by Willem De Waal
Did a quick day trip yesterday, for lunch at Hilltop. (Did you know that the
place lost half its roof in a fire last year?? Obviously AFTER we had been
there.)
ANYWAY
The park has had good rain, with lots of standing water all over the place, and
little streams running.
So went in for a quick short ride through iMfolozi, and ran into San-Marie at
the Centenary Centre there - the game ranger that hosted us at the Masinda Camp.
She was on her way to go and try and sort out water pumps and stuff near the
river, because one of her rangers' camps was without water. Said it would be a
groot gesukkel, because of the mud and stuff, and the roads were a mess ...
SO
I told her to next time get hold of Don, and ask for a group of you okes to go
assist - even if it's just to be able to GET to the problem, and be sure to get
out again. I mean - isn't this what you guys do for fun??
So there. Your services have been offered.
Didn't see too much - saw 1 rhino in thick bush. No ellies. Good lunch (the
whole restaurant has been revamped after the fire.)
Saw attached fruit bat hanging above the serving hatch at the Centenary Centre
Take-Away, and saw this vulture trying to dry its wings after the rain ...
